Ribh's D'Coopage

You need to take that phrase and make it into a little sign for the coop, to go with the motifs! I had a little “plaque” I did with a wood burner and some scrap for our “Fence of Domestic Discord, est. 2015” and every coop needs a name!
lol I don't often pun but I've always referred to it as d'coopage, partly because it makes YD wince. Goes over the man's head. Seeing as she's a vegetarian & called her first chook Nugget I don't think she's in a position to point fingers. :D

I had an embarrassing moment like that at work once, a co-worker (supervisor level) charged some turmeric as ginger, and I teased him about it, “how can you miss that it’s bright orange?!?” Turns out he was completely color blind, and no one there knew except the head manager in the dept. I was apologizing to him for the whole day and felt awful, but all of a sudden a lot of his idiosyncrasies made sense... he didn’t read all the plu’s because he didn’t know them, but because he couldn’t see the color differences in the items to tell a Granny Smith apple from a red delicious. My uncle is also color blind, so you would think I would be more aware!
 .... could he be some what color blind?
My hubs gets orange and purple mixed up....

I don't think he's colour blind as such [just dyslexic] but he doesn't see subtleties of shade. I will dither for ages choosing between 2 colours that look the same to him & he can never see why I would choose one over another & then compare it to another colour, whereas I have very good colour distsinction, even now when my eyes are no longer what they were, & can tell when colours are lifting each other or just fading each other into nothingness. I've no fashion sense @ all but I can't live with poor colour choices. I would have ordered in & gone back another day if I'd had to rather than go with something that didn't quite work for me. I'm really happy with my teals ~ though the acid test is when it goes on my walls! Hah!

Haha! I love it! It’s so funny you say that cuz I was just thinking to make a sign for mine and call it “THE CHICK~INN” :D... although I know that’s not very original... but it seems to fit!
Why not? Going on the old cat adage: if I fits, I sits. :D

Love it!:love I'm sure there's a story behind that one!
Just that we argued a lot, and very loudly about it for several months, and when we actually started building it realized we were basically thinking the same thing but saying it differently enough that we confused each other to no end. Sometimes (ok... oftentimes) we don’t communicate well with each other! It was a beautiful fence when we finally finished it, and we all survived the process... but I will never do custom lattice out of 1x2’s again, EVER!

lol Yeah ~ that's John & I. He says I'm pedantic about words; I say he uses them so loosely they're meaningless. Makes it interesting when we have to work together!

John has given me the coop dimensions for those of you for whom such things make sense.
Overall length X width: 18' X 4'.5"
house [internal]: 4'8" X 4'8"
Air flow @ apex: 1'.4" @ floor 2'
Uprights:treated structural pine
walls: 17mm [1/2"] marine ply
Batten screws
The foundation is hardwood [yellow box] slabs set into shallow trenches in the ground.

Anything else?

Just more pictures! I’m on day one in the big city again, missing chooks, building projects, and the fields already... (operation visit family and get new glasses, unavoidable)
lol The drought has broken. We are confined indoors while enduring a torrential downpour. It will take @ least a day to dry out. Meanwhile we have reverted to indoor tasks & now my whole house smells of Danish oil ~ which is taking ages to dissipate because everything is now damp. I am bemoaning not having my chook garden ready for planting with all this lovely rain falling.

I am due to have my eyes checked too. Putting it off while I have my teeth seen to but I need to do it. YD was the one who insisted I get my eyes checked the first time ~ she drove with me a lot :gig~ & the Optometrist declared I was legally blind for all intents & purposes. Ouch. Wonder how often that happens?

I visit my mum for a prolonged stay once a year. The cats drive John crazy missing me, the chooks misbehave because it's someone different feeding them & I get lonesome for the craziness of my own home fast ~ yet my mum's is beautiful & organized & close to all the popular tourist spots. :D
