Ribh's D'Coopage

Yep ~ & yet so tiny. 🤣 So's Portia & the Campines are screamers. Luna can be perstistant ~ like a dripping tap & some days I worry about the neighbours because all the girls seem to be as cross as & letting the whole world know about it.😖
Barking Bracket used to be loud. Fortunately Punch who probably suffered from bad headaches got to her quickly and she shut up.:D

We have had a couple of days of wind & rain. The girls are scattered about the yard & much happier with a very pleasant 19C.

As a new layer & a very young hen no~one seems to think Shuri should be sitting.
She was given a hard time when she got off the nest to eat & drink. Even Olivia felt obliged to tell her she was out of line.

Even timid little Oshina felt safe challenging her! 😲

Ribh, do you think frizzled or flat feathered chickens do better in the heat? Or is there no difference?
Smaller birds seem to do better overall in the heat but seem to feel the cold faster from my observations. My big hens: Luna, Hepzibah & Soda, all hate the really hot days. The Campines don't really seem to notice weather changes. Portia, who is considerably larger than Shuri, seems to suffer more in the heat. The bantams have all gone broody in the heat & sat in a stinking hot shed without even panting.:idunno

Hmmm This is good food for thought.
