There's a lot of understanding to be gained from context and from things like microexpressions, tone of voice, the motivation of others in the room, overheard conversations between teacher and students, etc etc. Online learning falls short on the human factors. But, it's so much more convenient. During a pandemic, for instance, this is a great thing; but I'm not convinced the convenience makes up for what's lost. This is very true. I'm trying to get the new employees trained without being able to have them literally shadow someone in person. It's a whole new way of doing things and very challenging. It is a whole lot harder to keep someone's attention from wandering on a video training than in person.
