I love these girls! My FBF offerings; Snowy’s feather-duster butt (and bonus Lottie), her impression of a frill-necked lizard and Penguin ‘crowing’?

Oh this is all too much. Poor dear Hepzibah - whenever you are up for it we should see some pictures of her so we all remember her as she lived, happy and lively in your care.We seem to be having a spate of losses just now.View attachment 2996907
Last night I lost my sweet Hepzibah.
I have no idea. Two days ago I was admiring how healthy she looked, the vibrancy of her comb, the alertness of her eye & how she ran across the lawn like a chick.
This morning she was cold & stiff when I went to let the girls out.
There was no indication anything was wrong @ all until late yesterday afternoon when she dropped this.
I know it was Hepzibah because I immediately began checking bums. She was a bit off for the rest of the afternoon & didn't eat before going to roost but after dropping something like that I wasn't surprised. Having panicked & immediately thought coccidia & I'd missed any symptoms I thought maybe intestinal shedding. The only tother time I've seen anything like that was Patricia & she went on to prolapse.
Meanwhile Sif & Soda are going from strength to strength. you just never know with chooks.
Thanks RC. She was a good age for a BR ~over 5~ & she was hale & hearty right up until the end so she did better than a lot of chooks.Oh this is all too much. I will. I expect you are right about a heart attack. It was very sudden. She was one of 2 from my very first little flock of 5 & a stabilising influence; very calm. Luna is upset & Soda will miss her sister but everyone is out foraging except the broodies. The tribe will adjust but it will be different without her calm presence.Oh no! I'm so sorry.
She must've had a heart attack or something like that, poor old darling.
She was such a good hen. You'll be missing her![]()
I am so very sorry for your loss. This is a hard one. So very fast and unexpected. We seem to be having a spate of losses just now.View attachment 2996907

That is a hen crowing. Lilly makes a very similar sound when she does it. How many crows in a row will Penguin make. Lilly only does 1.My FBF offerings; Snowy’s feather-duster butt (and bonus Lottie), her impression of a frill-necked lizard and Penguin ‘crowing’?
