Ribh's D'Coopage

Good evening folks :frow

We’ve got some internet connection back, woohoo! There’s also a technician coming out tomorrow so hopefully it will be back to normal in 24 hours. In the meantime, I’ve managed to upload my third portrait video, please enjoy. I’ll also post it to @BY Bob ’s thread.

Wonderful!!!

Soooo… a bit concerned with how long it’s been so wet; Penguin seemed quite off today and I’m despairing at having yet another sick chicken, and one of the new girls too! Coccidiosis has been on my mind the last couple of days but I thought it was pointless giving them medicated water, as they’d probably ignore it and drink the puddles! However, given Penguin’s off behaviour today, I think I will have to keep them in the run for two weeks and give them medicated water. What do other people think?
I would lock mine up in weather like that. Better in the run and coop than out in that.

When I saw the greyhound I knew this would have a different mood. It's beautiful. 🥰

I would try to keep them out of the water somehow - if their run is flooded maybe they can go in a garage or something? Then watch Penguin carefully and make a decision based on her behaviour.

Their run is on higher ground and two thirds of it has roof panels. I’ve fenced off the corner that is flooded and shut them in for the day. I moved food and water to under the roof and gave them medicated water. Penguin seems more animated today (she was crowing 🙄) but will watch everyone carefully.

Managing backyard chickens in a big wet is one of the hardest things I think. Everything gets mucky & stinky so quickly.

If you suspect coccidiosis why don't you dose them individually and let them carry on as normal?
