I think it will do wonders for them.I reckon! A lot quicker than I had anticipated! But I guess this means the girls will have a drier, roomier and airy house which will hopefully help their health.

That is an excellent mug.My new coffee cup
I’m going to take a leaf out of @micstrachan ’s book and wrap towels around the roosts. This should keep them cleaner and encourage them to roost because it’s comfy, and stop sleeping in the nest boxes!I think it will do wonders for them.
That's the usual pot and a cup I got in London a few years ago from Fortnum & Mason, but they're on the desk instead of the kitchen table where you'd usually see them so they might look more special then usual. Here's an old post with the same tea things being used: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/mjs-little-flock.1334809/post-24737260Thanks for that MJ. I will give it a go.
Beautifully arranged tea pot and cup by the way. Very swish!![]()
Who sleeps in the boxes Loz?I’m going to take a leaf out of @micstrachan ’s book and wrap towels around the roosts. This should keep them cleaner and encourage them to roost because it’s comfy, and stop sleeping in the nest boxes!
Oh, Portia! Get better, Honey!Doing my mid morning rounds I found Portia down in the shed & struggling to move.As she was her usual self earlier I promptly hit the panic button & hoyed her up to the house for vitamins, minerals, energy boost, coccidia. I was taking no chances after Sif. In the process of all that she dropped a soft shelled egg so I guess that was her problem. I kept her caged for the rest of the morning as she was wobbly but let her out for the afternoon. She has rested most of the day & I expect to have to carry her to bed but we shall see. She took herself off to re-join the outskirts of the tribe so hopefully it's just a bad day. She's a funny, quirky hen & I would be sorry to loose her.

I can’t wait to see! The roost towels serve a couple purposes:I’m going to take a leaf out of @micstrachan ’s book and wrap towels around the roosts. This should keep them cleaner and encourage them to roost because it’s comfy, and stop sleeping in the nest boxes!
Pretty much everyone has, apart from Nyssa, occasionally River and Snowy might be a “roost-er” too.Who sleeps in the boxes Loz?
Far out! That strikes me as unusual. What happens when you close off the nests?Pretty much everyone has, apart from Nyssa, occasionally River and Snowy might be a “roost-er” too.
They just sleep on the floor of the prefab. As no-one is laying at the moment, I’m not going to put wood shavings and hay in the new nest boxes, but pad the roosts and get everyone used to them. The chook Hyatt will be here either Tuesday or the following Saturday (the roof hasn’t been delivered yet).Far out! That strikes me as unusual. What happens when you close off the nests?
