Ribh's D'Coopage

Evening folks :frow

I'm a drone hater too. Even though it's illegal to shoot them down, we do and the owners know better than to complain.
:frow No guns here. Unfortunately. Shooting down drones I can cope with.:D

Evening everyone :frow
:frow No idea what time it is there, just now but here it is cold, cold, cold & I have just lit the fire. I hardly ever put it on first thing. Brrrrr.

That's funny. I came at this the exact opposite way. I was a song bird guy. I had special feeders all over my yard. I had bluebirds and swallows nesting in my bird houses. My wife got me binoculars that would take digital photos. I would sit at my back door in the winter watching the birds through my binoculars. Even taking photos of them.

Then she got chickens. I still have feeders but I am now chicken obsessed.

Me too. I still have birdbaths everywhere for the wildings but I love my chookies.

Last night I had 2 crusts from the bread that I took out to the girls. Knowing how they fight I normally tear it up so there's a better chance for everyone to get some but it was cold & I was feeling lazy so I just chucked it in. Well, it was on! Half the girls were racing round the pen with chunks of bread hanging out of their beaks while the other half pursued them & then Suyin snatched the bread out of Soda's beak as she slipped past & in the fallout they both lost it to a zippy little Campine. Well!!! Soda was furious. She grabbed Suyin by the neck feathers & literally ground her face down into the dirt! Meanwhile Lottie & the other Campine had got some bread & fled to the sand pit to consume their portions in peace. :) For the 1st time yesterday Lottie hopped onto my knee on her own for dinner This level of trust always astonishes me. because chickens are prey animals & it is not in their best interests to trust that which preys on them.

Morning Jeannie :frow

That's hilarious:yuckyuck:lau:gig I use meal worms to get my meaties moving and exercising but it was always funny to see one run with their worm, and another totally ignore the untouched ones and go after that bird. And Lapper chickens are wonderful, so are lapper turkeys as long as they stay in your lap:lau

Good morning everyone :frow it's chilly here too @Ribh I've got my warmest jumper on. Brrrr.

Me too :) Dad and I shared a hobby when I was a kid, we bred canaries. It taught me a lot about birds and gave me a love of them. Around here, the wattlebirds, blackbirds and boobook are my favourites (after the chickens of course).

Wimp. These three never minded the cold and snow.

That comb!! Magnificent.

I also rather like the bin chickens (that's a colloquial term, I think they're a type of ibis). The other day, a whole flock of them flew overhead in a perfect V formation.
Lots of people rubbish them [oops, feeling punny this morning! ] but I like Ibis.
