Ribh's D'Coopage

It's a gorgeous autumnal morning: a bright sky and the air is cool with a touch of warmth.
Wonderful weather here this morning also. I love autumn! The cats are so much happier ~ Ragdoll Xs so double coated semi long haired & they melt all summer.
:(

ragdolls are beautiful though. I guess even beauty has some disadvantages.
They are gorgeous ~ but not made for hot weather. They are always so happy to see the back of summer but then spend all winter cooking in front of the fire. Go figure! :)

Okay... so all done with the outside part! Now to finish the new sleeping quarters.. the old roosting area was in with the nests and it was rather small.. they def had enough room but still small compared to what they will have! And the old area will be just for nests.. but I fear it gonna cause an uproar when trying to convince them the the roosts have moved and they now have to sleep two feet over :he :fl... There is wire still separating the two runs so I put the 3 five week olds in there for now until it’s time to integrate.. then when that’s done I think I’ll put Nilky in there with her babies for a bit and when it’s time to integrate them I’ll open the runs up to all... I’ll take pics of the new roosting and nest area when done.. oh, and we used roofing nails this time... not very attractive but SO MUCH quicker!!

And I need to point out my supplier is an enabler! We were chatting [as you do] about chickens in general & mine in particular & I was saying how happy I'd been with the girls she had supplied me last time only my BRs would go broody on me! I'm still blaming our summer heat for how often & how long they persisted! Then I shared about my obsession to own silver laced Wyandottes [so pretty!] & the next thing I know Kate is saying, Next time you have a broody ring me & my breeder can supply you with 3 day old sexed chicks to put under her. WHAT?!!! NO!!!! I am so not a chick person. Chicks terrify me. So small. So fragile. I tried: I have 12 & that's all my council allows me... Her response, she knows people in inner Brisbane [council limit:6] who have 20 hens or more! No~one is complaining. lol Heaven help me! Chicken math is a real hazard!
Chicken math :celebrate.... it’s the only kind of math that I can master :gig

Wow! Looking sooo good! Love the roofing nails. Bang 'em in & you're done!

I haven’t been able to spend much time with Goosie, Lilly, and Mak since I moved them out but now since they are in the new addition was able to sit in there with them and they were just so happy!! Running all around me and jumping up on my back! It was so cute!! None of my other gals ever did that! And I spent way more time with them then I have with these... I think these three are gonna have great dispositions! Very personable :)

Yep, we've been working so hard I haven't spent as much time as I usually do with the girls. They ran amuck this morning when I let them out & they are now confined in the small coop for bullying the newbies & breaking out & heading straight for the veggies! Man are they letting me know they are put out about these newcomers!
