Looks like a snake...the internet is full of cats freaking out over zucchinis or cucumbers but the reason is they look like snakes. Your birds were smart. They ran from a potential threat. Half of mine are totally oblivious & the other half scream defiance because they're a big tough chicken. *sigh* I'm the only one who ever bothers about a hawk overhead! No real threats & mine are so not predator savvy.

I was sitting out with the gals yesterday and Ruby sounded the alarm... bbrrrrrrtt... everyone one froze wherever they happened to be.. no one moved for a good three to four minutes.. within that time the flowers waited for an opportunity to run for cover.. then freeze... the whole time Ruby was making constant ever so soft alarms.. bbrrrt, bbrrrt, bbrrrt... no one moving... it was amazing to watch.. so cool! All the while I am looking everywhere for whatever is was that spooked them.. but nothing ... sometimes egrets fly over and you should see them run!! It’s hilarious...

Last night I was able to pull up BYC on my phone. I had Rich read all the birthday wishes. He was deeply touched.

My daughter has one of the kindest hearts I have seen in a child and all this talk about birthdays made her want to create one for our dog. So Anna decided that yesterday was Dixie's birthday and she made her a special dinner for it.

Tuppence. Yep. Mealworms bring out the extrovert in even the shyest chook!

If I don't separate the chooks at mealworm time Janet pretty much inhales 90% of them while Mary says "deeewishus!" after every bite, and Sandy goes hard but drops them out of her kakky beak. So they realise now: separated = mealworms and their anticipation goes through the roof!
