Well my wait wasn't long... My uncle passed this morning. on one hand I'm happy he's no longer suffering on the other I'm so going to miss him.

It's funny how they think of us as roosters! If there's a squabble all I do is say "hey!

I know... & they so know when they've been bad & act so guilty!

I don't really trust Blossom either, although her predation so far is zilch, and she's scared of Mary who chased her one time.

I have 2 cats with really different personalities & my birds have them sorted. If Kirby's around the alarm goes off & they watch him like he was the devil himself. Marlow is just a long yawn.They know he's far too lazy to be bothered with them.

Last night I was able to pull up BYC on my phone. I had Rich read all the birthday wishes. He was deeply touched.

My daughter has one of the kindest hearts I have seen in a child and all this talk about birthdays made her want to create one for our dog. So Anna decided that yesterday was Dixie's birthday and she made her a special dinner for it.

I have 2 cats with really different personalities & my birds have them sorted. If Kirby's around the alarm goes off & they watch him like he was the devil himself. Marlow is just a long yawn.They know he's far too lazy to be bothered with them.

Mine all go crazy at the mere sight of a feline, except Hoppy who remembers them from her occasional times in the really big coop, yet they will stand there and stare at a raccoon through the hardware cloth like its some strange striped chicken with opposable thumbs, or maybe a small furry feeder. Like, that thing is certain death if it breaches the perimeter... how do they not see it as dangerous, yet my hunting-challenged house cats are?

Perhaps they feel super safe behind the perimeter...?

I am still trying to get my head around the whole raccoon thing. I read Rascal with YD as a set book [wonderful book!] & have this soft spot for raccoons because of it. So glad we don't have rabies as well.

Looks like a snake...the internet is full of cats freaking out over zucchinis or cucumbers but the reason is they look like snakes. Your birds were smart. They ran from a potential threat. Half of mine are totally oblivious & the other half scream defiance because they're a big tough chicken. *sigh* I'm the only one who ever bothers about a hawk overhead! No real threats & mine are so not predator savvy.
