How are the chicks this morning Ribh? All good?
That seems like mostly good news to me.All the chicks who survived yesterday still seem to be doing well this morning. I think this egg has quit.View attachment 3972853
Wrold got up to eat this morning.
Her 2 looked a bit bereft when she left...

but not for long.
Tootsie promptly moved in & took over mothering duties.
Alpia's one looks good too. The egg under Chavi has gone bad. Another one has pipped so we shall wait & see.View attachment 3972855
I hope you have better luck with your hatch.
I did end up with more eggs than I actually wanted so losing some isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I think I have ended up with all booted bantams; all the feet are feathered. So far none appear frizzled.
It is mostly good news. I've been trying to stay fairly detached until everyone is a bit bigger. Not even names yet. That seems like mostly good news to me.
If I end up with even one chick, I'll be over the moon. Really hoping Mary's been sitting on fertile eggs. I was so sorry for Ivy when her last clutch didn't even attempt to hatch. Those eggs were from the rooster up the street who didn't live in great conditions and whose hens were comparatively very small and over-mated.
Isn't that wonderful. It seems everyone knew there were fertile eggs & when the chicks were due to hatch. There has been a lot of curiosity about what's going on in those nesting boxes.![]()
I think so. Everyone seems to be taking a propriety interest in these chicks, which is good news when it comes time for them to join everyone else.Isn't that wonderful.
Thanks, Grammy. How's Bob? He is missed.Congratulations on babies![]()
I don't know anything about frizzles but chick down may not show it. It might not even show with their first (juvenile) feathers, which you'll see over the next 4 weeks or so. What they will look like as adults will only become apparent when they grow their first adult feathers, at a couple of months old.So far none appear frizzled
Thanks Perris. Hatch rate isn't great. Started with 12. If we're lucky the last 2 will hatch to make it an even half. Lost Wrold's last one. There still seemed to be egg yolk & a tough membrane. He seemed to have been squashed in the shell & half stuck to it & then Wrold ate half of him...your patience is being rewarded; so happy for all of you!
The youngest frizzles I've had were just off heat & definitely frizzled by that stage but I will hope you are right & they will all moult frizzled.I don't know anything about frizzles but chick down may not show it.
