Ribh's D'Coopage

Ok. @BY Bob I'm taking a moment to make this face

And now, like an Aussie may I say, WTF to your boss who disrupted your holiday for a meeting you didn't need to be at (I can't facepalm hard enough for that lil chestnut) and also to the "airline" that gave you 5x more time in the airport than in the air (can we make that a performance indicator, plz).

I'm sorry your one week of family holiday was trashed by unethical decision makers.

And then they preach "work - life balance".

I need all of my awesome Aussie peeps to help me out... as yall know I have built the big outdoor bird cage... well, we are FINALLY getting a cool front so I covered it with clear shower curtains.. they work perfectly! What I need to know is.. what are the lowest temps can the budgies handle...? I will also need one of my brudda Bobs to translate that temp for me ... View attachment 1932360

I stand ready.........

I'm not a budgie expert either, but I would expect them to tolerate 0C (32F) for short periods (maybe an hour) and 10-15C (50-59F) all day. If the temperature falls below freezing, I think that would be a big problem for them.

And I was all ready to translate temps. :rant

CHOOK OF THE WEEK.
PEBBLES.
20191004_133827 (2).jpg

I admit to having a super soft spot for this beauty.
She was the quietest, most subdued little chicken @ the farm but we soon discovered she had loads of personality. From the moment she was released from her crate she rushed around like a mad woman chest bumping everyone & asserting her dominance. From the get go she was a top order chook & what's more she laid regularly a good sized egg.

When I dodged the raindrops this morning she was downstairs with everyone vying for her share of the treat.

We got a break in the weather about mid~day & Pebbles was in the nesting box on top of @ least 4 eggs. I gently removed them from under her but she wasn't a hen to fuss & I gave her a quick cuddle before leaving her to get on with her business.

The weather closed in again & I didn't get another chance to check the girls until feed time. I opened the gate to let the girls have a quick run while I filled the feeders. There was a mass surge @ the gate so I didn't immediately notice I was missing one.

Pebbles was propped against the side wall of the sand pit as if caught in the middle of her sand bath, quite serene but gone from us.

I am devastated. There was no sign of illness. Nothing to suggest she was unwell. Everything was as usual but now she is gone. Such a little chicken, such a big personality.
