Thanks, Shad. It is a catastrophic start to our fire season. My mum is 2 hours north of us & I usually spend a week with her in either December or January but she has fires all around & parts of the highway are cut so travel isn't wise. She is safe & the fires are extremely unlikely to come anywhere near her but she too hasn't seen blue sky in some days. Brisbane [a city I love to hate ] has issued health warnings as it is an undulating city & all the low spots now have a smoke lid.

We're not going anywhere today... I have tons of experience driving on snow and ice, that said, the smartest thing to do is just don't. My worst winter was in Germany when I was still in school. I had classes on the other side of the mountain. Driving mountain roads in it is just crazy. It's a situation where gravity is NOT your friend.
