Fires and Snow... I can’t really complain too much about the rain that started up last night, but I wish I could send it down to you all in Australia, you need it more than I do! Stay safe everyone... and even if you’re not directly threatened by the fires, be careful of the smoke as well. In 2017 we had quite the year for wildfires, and I was actually somewhat thankful for my mother’s stay in hospital, I was there everyday and the filtered air was a blessing. It can get quite hard to breathe when it gets that bad as well.

I remember back in the summer of 2001 Canada was having major wildfires and the smoke drifted all the way down to the Harrisburg area. I was driving carriage horses on City Island, and I ended up with the worse ear infection. I had never had an ear infection before and it was so bad I ended up losing hearing out of that ear. The smoke was the only we could figure out that did it, I had no other issues. It was really bizarre.

I believe that's how Turner came to paint all those orange sunsets, but in that case it was volcanic smoke and ash all the way from Indonesia.
