Ribh's D'Coopage

I call them the “too much” dogs... they eat too much, they crap too much, they whine too much, they dig too much, they bark too much, they stink too much, they shed too much, they chew too much......... they are just very MUCH! :th

That's why they are great when they are someone else's!

Had a bit of that here. People turn up to visit the main house and mention they've brought their dog with them saying it will do the dog good to run around in the countryside.View attachment 2038183
I get some very hostile looks when I say they have to leave it in the car.
The rest of the conversation goes something like this.
"But our dog is very well trained, we took it to classes."
Me "okay put it's lead on and lets see what it does."
Dog gets out of car with lead on.
Me, "wait there a minute."
I go and find a chicken and place it a good distance from the dog and owner. Chicken heads off away from the dog and stranger at high speed.
Dog lurches at the fleeing chicken practically pulling the owner over in the process as the owner issues a string of commands that the dog doesn't pay the slightest attention to.
Me. "put the dog back in the car."

On the other hand there are a few people who come out here to walk their dogs. One man comes on a motor bike. He has a basket on the back and in the basket sits his Jack Russel Terrier. The man and I have a bit of a chat when I see him come by. We've been away from the dog for up to half an hour. The dog will not stir from that basket until the man gives the command.

Those who keep up on my thread probably remember this story but I'm going to repeat myself anyway. The first hen to ever enter our house on her own legs was Elphie. She was running from a dog.

One of my wife's friends had brought their small dog over for wine and conversation on the patio. I was inside not having been invited to ladies time.

I found out later my wife told her it was ok to let the dog off the leash. "I'm sure he won't bother the chickens".

I'm sitting in the living room and hear thr commotion in the back yard.

Bark, bark, bark!

Bawk, bawk, bawk!

I go the backdoor and as I open it Elphie runs between my legs and on into the living room and I see Daisy (the greatest hen ever) duck under the deck with the dog hot behind her. Daisy was just a pullet at the time.

The only way to get the dog out was to squirt it with the hose and drive it back out.

It was not a good situation but no one wound up hurt, thankfully. It could have been very bad though and would not have been a sight any amount of wine could have fixed.

Do you groom her like that? She's adorable.
Thanks... I can and do but since it’s long I bring her to the groomer because they have the good blow dryers... and they’ll brush her out.. I usually cut it shorter but I wanted her to be fancy for the parade :D
I’ve been wanting to paint her black and gold for the Saints... I just might one day!

Did you see the GORGEOUS black standard poodle that just won Westminster Dog Show..?
And you see how Jovi is just standing and sitting.. I just tell her to stand still and it’s like she is showing... they are such natural show dogs.. and when she walks on a leash she prances just like the ones in the show ring... she’s so fancy :)
