Ribh's D'Coopage

One of cousins takes her dogs everywhere. It's very inconsiderate. I always have to put Blossom in a bedroom (she hates dogs) and supervise the chooks because she won't leave her dogs at home.

One should always ask before taking your pets to anyone else's house. It's just common courtesy.

I never just show up with a chicken under my arm and let it run around someone's house!

Aoife, in the video above, was eventually the 1st of the new chickens to venture into the run, closely followed by Alpia. Only Mhari, who always lays early, didn't get any run time. Aoife won't be getting any more run time any time soon.

I sat with the girls for the 1st hour & everything was going so well I decided to nick inside for a coffee & my crochet. The new girls had all just been hanging round my feet & not venturing too far from the door but with the keeper out of sight Aoife went straight up & over. She may have had a little encouragement. Hepzibah, Ha'penny & Lottie were all out as well but they are all biddable hens. Ha'penny promptly put herself back in the run; Lottie waited for me to scoop her up & Hepzibah squatted. Aoife went pretty much 20' straight up & flew 50! Straight out over the drop where I can't go due to the roughness of the terrain. 😲 Half an hour later I finally managed to corral her. Once I had her she calmed right down. Silly girl! She flies exceptionally well! 🤣

In all the hoo~ha Aoife kept circling back towards the coop so @ least she knew where *home* was & was desperately attempting to get there but unlike Ha'penny hasn't figured out how to get back *in* the run!

Alpina also decided up & out was her next move but I was right there to discourage her & she didn't object to being handled. I've had about a week's exercise & everybody is back in the coop with some cabbage while I recuperate!

They for sure can fly. Wow!

SO adorable!! I love this! I let my Silkie adopt 4 bantam Cochins last year :love

I didn't even have to wait until dark. As soon as she heard them she started cooing and calling to them. I slipped them under her, gave her some crumbles, and she was happily munching away.

This is the 2nd batch she's raised for me. Last year it was just one chick, but she doesn't seem to mind that there are more now.

That is the same thing I did.... this is when I gave them to her.. She would call them and they would run right under her.. immediately! And I got mine from TSC... there is only three here cuz one died right away and I got another one for her a week later that was at the store for a week already but he even went immediately to her.. it’s amazing!
