Ribh's D'Coopage

The big girls sun bathing together yesterday.

I have been enjoying everyone's photos & comments but life here got a little out of control for commenting on everything. The IT man came & I was required to look intelligent & ask intelligent questions on behalf of the man who has even less idea than I do. This fried my brain for all intents & purposes as I never use his computers or eBay or the scanner.

Today was more nasty bits cut out. Just call me Hatch~face the Pirate.
The clouds coming home were quite something though.
Those chooks look so contented.

The clouds look like Autumn weather is on its way! 😍

I'm glad they're getting rid of the nasty bits for you Ribh but I hope there will be no more to find soon. I'm sure the chickens and I will still love you even if you look like a pirate . Arrrrr Jim Lad! 😁:hugs

Thanks, @LozzyR. I much prefer to respond to each post when people have taken the time to comment in the 1st place but I just couldn't keep up with all the extra happening. And the surgery, minor as it is, has taken a heavy emotional toll. I'm behind on time with my girls too & that just won't do!

Chicken therapy is the best therapy. 🐥 Any surgery is emotionally taxing. Take care of yourself and soothe your soul with the hens and their gentle mumbling as they fossick for bugs.

Bok. bok, bok, bok..... 🐓🐤🐤🐤 (just imagine that first one is a Leghorn hen , not a rooster)

Good evening folks :frow

Jeannie hope you feel better quickly :hugs:hugs We're up early this morning due to weather... multiple emergency alerts on the cell phone woke us then we got a phone call from the county telling us to take cover. A tornado touched down south west of us and traveled south east of us. Thankfully it stayed south. We've gotten 3.8 cm of rain in the last 3 hours with lots of lightning and a good dose of hail as well.

Is it tornado season already?

Take care you two. :hugs:fl

Roosting is still in a state of flux. Last night it was only Wyandottes on the 2nd roost. Everyone else was squiggied on the top bar.

Tonight only the Araucana, Beatha, was allowed on the top.
The Campines & Wyandottes were huddled together.

Lottie, as she sometimes does, chose to roost on the 2nd bar with Mhari.
The pecking can get vicious. Everyone tries to avoid Lavender & Suyin in particular.

Torrential rain came through about 1am. The girls don't like rain like that but though the showers are still coming across the bay in short bursts most of the girls are up & downstairs. We have been struggling with flies in the runs since the drought broke as the litter hasn't been able to dry out properly. I'm considering some DE or lime. Plus Lavender is molting. Pale lilac feathers everywhere & one very peculiar looking bird! Egg production is way down so I figure a couple of the others will be joining her shortly. She was sure quick off the mark. We are only a couple of days into what is supposed to be Autumn ~ though you'd never know it from our temps!
Late Autumn is favorite for heavy moults here. Get it all done before it gets cold.

Oh yes! Definitely! I'd much rather they molt now while it is still relatively warm than later when it will be cold & probably windy as well.
