Ribh's D'Coopage

I didn’t take any pics today.. we hung the door and got most of the roof on.. ran out of nails :hmm... gonna get more tomorrow so when hubs is home from work we’ll finish that... and I’m about to order the hardware cloth and farm fencing :ya
And Kris5902 is tractor building! We are all moving forward ~ however slowly! We've got the roof on. Yay! will post pics later. Getting paint tomorrow. Hoping for teal walls & a darker green for the roof but we shall see. The one real criteria is durability!

Well, it looks very durable!... I just ordered the hardware cloth and farm fencing for the yard.. picked up paint today.. the last paint I used on the original build was a gallon that someone returned so it was only $5.00 ... but the red color worked out well.. this time I was gonna have to match the color but the store no longer carried that stain AND to get a different stain and match it would cost $35 to $45 dollars!! I was NOT doing that! So, I just got a redwood farm latex stain for $9.97... much better! So we will see how well the match is... I don’t think it’ll be too noticeable :fl

Kris should post her pics too:thumbsup

I’ve got a town day tomorrow (or the next day if we get another calf) for my older getting day... sushi, and a trip to the hardware store! Today was three hay trips from the other side of the island, but I promise updates soon! Glad you guys are underway, spring is in the air? No? Or fall I suppose???

Kris5902 should. ;) Give her enough time & I'm sure they'll arrive. She is farming properly while I am just playing.

Yes, so do we. Whole heap of things we need from the hardware & nursery. Happy Birthday for tomorrow. :woot

The roosts are in. Twelve chooks is my maximum so I think I am ok for roosting space. There is an air vent above the highest roost to be wired in.

And the roof is on! What a job that was! I've got a lovely big overhang on the western side to protect & shade the nesting boxes & my bins. Windows to be cut in & doors/lids hung ~ & that's it for this part of the coop. The girls got out & had a jolly good stickybeak. They seem to approve.

We've had a somewhat prolonged *discussion* about the front of the coop. I wanted it left completely open but I don't think it's really deep enough to do what I wanted it to do [space limitation here] & in our really wild weather the rain would probably come in, so...compromise. There is a 2' gap where the coop floor ends & where the double 1/2 doors will be hung. That's them leaning against the coop. Air flow will come in underneath but not directly at & I can pin back the doors in the warmer weather.:highfive: So far I am loving it. Let's hope the girls still approve when they finally move in!

I love it! Nice design and size... and it looks like you’ve got it very well placed on your property. I think you’ve got ample roosting space for 12 in there, easy. I’m still surprised at how closely my girls pack in at night, with Mr Marans firmly parked in the middle!

And thanks for the b’day wishes...

I hope you have a lovely day! Relieved you approve. We adjusted as we went & saw how things were shaping in reality. Not sure if the nesting boxes will be dark enough but easy enough to adjust the back panel if we need to.
