Wow! Everyone’s projects are looking great... mine is currently mostly cut but awaiting assembly, and lying in what is most likely now mud :hmm it started raining here a few hours ago, and I was planning on putting it together tomorrow (hopefully). I’ll have to see if the weather clears up overnight. I don’t work outside in the rain if I can help it. I’m also kicking myself because I left my bedroom window of the RV wide open when we left today, the weather has been so nice lately. Oops!

Thanks! It’s getting there.. I can’t wait till done :th... I stress and get anxious during the process! Thinking... what am I doing!?... am I going over board!?... am I spending too much!?.. what if ... what if... what if???? :duc
I empathize. The man can only do a couple of hours before pain kicks in & we need to head home so I'd gone on line & pre~selected colours [ for the coop] I was interested in thinking it would save time on the day & I wouldn't be dithering around because the man has no aesthetic sense of colour at all. Perish the thought. It was a good idea but... I wanted a darkish green for the roof & a teal for the walls but my colour choices all had a yellow base ~ not in stock! The yellow lifted the green & blended in with the garden that's already there so I was spinning & I knew the man was getting tetchy ~ the STRESS! He kept handing me colour samples that were just drab! And I kept choosing things with that yellow base. UGH!!! So I took a deep breath & headed away from green & went with the 2 tone teal.

I dunno. I think it will work... :( I hate being rushed in these things & the man always seems to think any old colours in the range will do ~ but then he has trouble telling green from grey & blue & mauve so, y'know... :)

I love them! And if you decide to add and trim or detailing you could go with black or white and it would look nice and sharp!
We are sympatico. :) I was thinking on the way home ~ in that vagueish way long boat trips induce~ that I should do a trip to the craft store ~ ON MY OWN!!!~ & get an anchor or chicken motifs to dolly the thing up a bit. The man keeps referring to it as the Seaside Mansion Coop For Spoilt Chickens. lol I keep thinking we have to look @ it for a very looong time! :)

A trip to the mainland precluded any work on the coop today & now rain is forecast. The girls were out late & promptly broke out to investigate the new coop. I parceled out a corn treat but I think they just feel encouraged to misbehave. Meanwhile I have mint & nasturtiums sprouting in the hanging baskets destined for the coop; rosemary & passionfruit bought. I should leave the man behind for these ventures. I wanted the 4 rosemary [he did not] & only 1 passionfruit. They are prolific & now we have 2 varieties ~ if they don't cross pollinate.

My breeder lives @ Mt Samson ~ over an hour away by car once we hit the mainland & through the heart of Brisbane, which always makes me quail. I have driven in worse cities ~ but only because I didn't read the language well enough to understand. Brisbane is a nightmare: congested, unsigned, twisting ~ & mistakes can take you all day to correct. I spent years driving my youngest to musical performances in places in Brisbane that had no parking so my stressometer can go from 01~1000 in .000 seconds.

Last time we collected chickens my daughter navigated. We went the long way round on the highway collecting tolls & though she talked non stop [NOT about our route!] we got there safely with the minimum of stress. However I was in no hurry for a repeat performance.

So I did what you do. I started looking round closer to home & I was not impressed. People are keeping birds in some pretty horrible conditions, not immunizing, not doing much of anything really except trying to turn a quick buck & so I contacted Kate @ Mt Samson again. She has the loveliest set up! Clean ~ as in spotless clean. Beautiful healthy birds. Immunized. Wormed. And she will talk to people like me who don't know too much. Which is important because I can't isolate any birds, certainly not 8, & it is a risk I am going to have to take because I am out of room.

So I left her one of my vagueish messages saying I wanted 8 birds in about 2 weeks because I was interested in anything except RIRs or NHs but I especially wanted Campines & some blue layers. I know people love their NHs & RIRs but I've found them to be bullies in a mixed flock & the girls I have @ present are really calm & old enough, I hope, to lead without bullying. I know what I can get is dependent on what she has available & I was starting to dither. Had I jumped the gun? Was I approaching her too soon? Was I too early for what I wanted? I got the lovliest message back last night. Campines & blues available! :ya She has also offered to pick out a mix of birds for me & hold them for me ~ which is super lovely of her as she goes to the markets each week~ so I'm likely to get the best set aside & closest to POL. And one spot left for DD to choose her special bird. I am sooo excited!!! And it is now raining so everything coop is on hold.

Oh bummer on the rain! Talk about the one thing that slows everything down :(... those are nice colors! I am awful at choosing colors... actually.. I’m getting a little better.
Oh, I cannot wait to see your new gals!! :wee... so exciting!!
I went to pick up my order but the hardware cloth was not in yet:barnie... but did get the farm fencing for the extra yard:clap... so we will have to wait too... hubs is glad cuz he wants to go fishing so he might be doing that this weekend... so that means another whole week and a half will go by before we finish
Finished painting though... I’ll post a pic..
