That Wallaby is adorable! I suppose it’s the Australian version of deer in a way... I can understand fretting over the bees, the tinier something is the more fragile it seems. @rjohns39 do you think it was CCD, mites, or just the awful winter that got your hives? I’m going to be eagerly looking for updates, because the Aunt-in-Law’s recent sting and hospital trip put the kibosh on my bee plans anytime in the near future :hmm gee, look there’s lots of wasps flying into the roofing, let’s take a hammer and violently nail boards up under them, when I’m deathly allergic! :th

:lauOh. Dear. Your family sound like characters!

Yep. Wallabys/kangaroos=deer ~ & are hunted for pretty much the same reasons. They get into livestock paddocks & eat all the feed. They're pretty barmy. I had one jump onto the back on the car as I was driving home one day.

We are getting native bees. They're stingless. Whew! Maybe you need some of these...? This particular variety doesn't like the cold though. Small & fragile sort of freaks me out.

A lost wallaby once visited our front yard, silly thing. That's when we were living in a small country town though. They don't visit the suburbs.
Ours live on Minjerribah & swim across the channel. We are part of a wildlife corridor for them ~ on the water & grass circuit. All our island ones were chased off or killed by dogs so we only get the imports now.

Sorry to learn about your hives @rjohns39. Apparently CCD isn't a huge problem in Australia (although my info is about 7 years old and things might've changed by now). We used to export loads of bees to countries that were losing their bees. It's quite funny to think of all those cargo planes full of bees.

Forget “snakes on a plane”... “bees on a plane” is way more in line with my in-laws nightmares

Chickens be crazy!!!
All this integrating is stressing me out.. the chickens too! I have decided I’m gonna step back and let things be.. I have fully integrated Nilky and babies :th... we also put the fence up so I let everyone out today.. still have to put netting of some sort on top..
Here are some pics of the them in the yard.. and the middles getting cozy with the BGs on the roosts.. and Nilky was sleeping on the roost tonight no matter how much protesting the babies were doing! Two of them followed her up and got on themselves and I had to catch the two black ones and put them up... this is the first night on a roost and not under mama so they were trying to get under mama on the roost!
The pics are poor cuz I took them with my phone and then took pics of the pics from my phone with my tablet .... can yall see the little boy?

I feel for ya. Just when I think they've got it sorted someone goes hormonal & runs round the coop shrieking & chest bumping & acting like a complete nut job. *sigh* Your chickies are gorgeous.
