We've had some excitement around here. My Livestock Guardian Dog managed to impale his right rear inner thigh on something a couple nights ago. Don't know what but suspect something metal about an inch wide and razor thin.

He's grounded until the 10th. The wound had no debris in it just a lot of fur. Vet pulled out as much as she could but couldn't get it all and stapled him back together. He hates his leash, definitely hates the cone and hates being grounded.

He's on two Antibiotics and one anti-inflammatory. He's convinced he's being punished for something and whines terribly.

In other news I'm setting eggs to sell my first set of mailed day old chicks.

Oh gosh!:eek:How absolutely awful! Poor pup. Hope he makes a great recovery.
One of my sons snacked on chicken late one night ~ waaay after I'd gone to bed ~ & left the bones around. He's lived with cats all his life & should have known better! Anyway, Kirby scoffed the wish bone & got it wedged in his throat. All night we listened to him hawking & dying by inches...nothing we could do till the 1st boat...& he is now a very expensive cat. It was quite something to get that wishbone out again!

That is a lot of eggs!:flWishing you all the best for the hatch. Only another fortnight to go!:D You will take piccies, won't you? I know WhoDat will swoon & I just like looking @ other people's pictures. :)

And Ribh, I'm sorry to hear about Kirby. I know how you feel about the expense. I spent hundreds on Charly when she was diagnosed with lymphoma had to be put to sleep. Such a shame it was all because the bones weren't thrown away! :barnie

Luckily Kirby made a full recovery but listening to him...!!! I hate not being able to do anything & we'd just lost our Big Boy in really tragic circumstances so I was something of a mess thinking I was about to lose another wonderful cat so soon.

The Campines add that touch of spice ~ & they are nutters to boot. Ha'penny [I can only tell because she has the blue lobes & is slightly larger] has been laying for a while. Her first couple of eggs she dropped haphazardly in the coop, pointy end first, so the shell was cracked but the membrane wasn't broken. OK. She's got better & these days I find her eggs in a nesting box.

Yesterday I found her sister, Tuppence, in a nesting box when I went to collect eggs. She was a little spooked when I lifted the lid but didn't flee screaming. She was in there for absolute ages but when I was finally able to check ~ no egg. OK. Practice run. It happens. Nope. I found her egg beside the gate when I called the girls in, dropped casually as she hopped out the door. Guess I'm lucky it was intact. Obviously egg laying was keeping her from more important things!
