Our first egg in months! View attachment 1814901
It's not very big compared to what Tsuki laid pre-moult but it's a relief to have her laying again. Now if only Deana will start laying so I can stop worrying. She finished her moult well before Tsuki and is looking plump and perky so why no eggs?
Grrrrr :barnie
Most girls take a bit of a break over winter. I'm really only getting eggs now because I bought POL 1/2way through Autumn.;)

I'm also waaay north so getting lots more light & warmth than you southern types. Like today was T~shirt weather...with a thunderstorm to follow.

I had a fairly laid back day with the girls today. The blokes were dealing with the sandstone out the front. Those tiles are too big & heavy for me to lift so I was spared sandstone duty today. Instead I sat in the pen in the sunshine with my girls. Mealworm treat today. Namaste sat in my lap for a cuddle & to warm up. Lottie came for a cuddle & both Favorelles have become super friendly. Lavender decided my toes were good for pecking.
It was early lockup though due to a massive thunderstorm coming through. The girls hated it & the cats went into melt down.

It's lovely to sit with the chooks and just chill. One of my favorite things to do at the moment.
How's Namaste doing today?

So agree! :) I find chooks soothing. They are just so happy being themselves doing what chooks do ~ & they are so funny! I have 2 cats. My boofer they ignore. My hunter they scream @. They know he is not a good puss!

Not much change on the Namaste front. She is up & about with the other girls, eating & drinking & scratching about but still hunched into herself & I do not know what is going on with her refeathering! She has a whole lot of fluff down her back but very few pin feathers coming in. And she will come & stand beside me if I'm in the pen as if I'm her rooster protector. Concerning...@ least she isn't being pecked & the older girls are sort of keeping an eye on her but I had to put her up on a roost again last night ~ though storm...1/2 the flock was milling agitatedly around the coop squawking & fussing. I had a cat cowering in a bush house & when we finally got him inside he scuttled under an armchair & quivered. *sigh* Everything's mad around here.

@ MaryJanet: The aftermath of last night's storm has left us with rain clouds...

The girls are up & about . Two eggs already & a favorelle in the nesting box. Lovely start to the day! And any time I appear my girls surge towards the fence. It is very flattering ~ even if it is chookie love & they are just hopeful of treats.:love

Your view makes my life brighter :)

I wonder what's going on with Namaste. I hope she has a good day with plenty of food and no bullying.

I've got a friend's cat staying at my house as a guest while the friend has another try at reaching the summit Mount Bogong. Mr Whiskers arrived last night and he has two quiet rooms to himself with a toasty warm bed in one corner. For now he likes sitting on top of the wardrobe where he can see everything. He ate and used his tray overnight. I hope he'll come down for a cuddle some time. I'm going to work quietly in his room until 10.30 then I'll go to the office where I'll stay til 7.30. So it's another long day of coop time for the chooks but at least there are a few morning hours in the run.

Blossom already submitted a formal complaint about the guest making too much noise while eating :p

Oh! Cats are so funny with each other ~ but @ least they are not fighting. :) My boys are bonded brothers & I swear, it's just like having my twins in the house again! They love each other but when they fight...watch out!

I don't know with Namaste. I might have to post in the Emergencies/Diseases/injuries/& Cures forum but I hate bothering people when it is probably just the end of her molt & I need to be patient & ensure she is getting plenty of protein. I do tend to be a *wait & see if it will sort itself out* sort of person & it's not like she is in pain or anything ~ just 1/2 naked still. :(

Yes, my view gives me joy even on really hard days. :)
