Ribh's D'Coopage

Hi, everyone! :frow What's going on in everyone's world?

I am crocheting picots to finish this *expletive* rug. It has chewed up wool like there's no tomorrow & is sooo heavy!!! Will be ok as a lap rug but working on it is hard on my wrists. That'll teach me not to double check my ply before I start! :(

Sat out with the girls in the afternoon sunshine yesterday. I seem to have plugged Suyin's escape hole but the Campines just go over the top. Little scamps know too! I'll catch them on the pen roof eyeing off the territory but as soon as I speak they hop down as if escape had never once entered their tiny bird brains!:barnie

Revenge is sweet.;) As soon as I appear with treats they are frantic to get back where they belong!:lau

@Kris5902 : I've been meaning to ask for a while: what happened with your goose egg?

After several candling attempts that didn’t show much promise I cracked them open and they were infertile. Talked with the husband of the other farmer, and he thinks they were both female geese, wish I’d known that at the beginning as I could have saved quite a few near sleepless nights! Sadly, two weeks ago they lost both their geese to a mink, the very same night Andrew dropped off their laying chickens. They were away for the night and their geese free range, so I’m just happy Andrew got the birds completely secured in the coop.

Be glad you don’t have weasels down there! We’re talking about a 1-2lb little creature that can fit through a gap about an inch or two wide and slaughter two giant guard geese with ease. These geese were bigger than most turkeys. Vicious nasty little things!

I'm as leery of geese as I am of roosters... I'm told minks kill for pleasure so I'm happy to admire them from afar & not have to deal with their blood lust.:(

Sorry your eggs were no good. You need something to discourage those raccoons.

Haha! Those campines!

I was on a panel last night and surprised myself with my thoughtful answers! Great questions from the audience too. The other panellists were super-smart. I'm so pleased to have met them. Can't wait to follow up and make lasting connections.

My chookies are good as gold, although they'll be locked up most of today because I have loads of meetings at the office. Healthy and happy little chookies. I'm still scheming for my once in a lifetime coop build :) Glad I'm moving slowly on that plan because I keep learning new coop features.

I'm gradually becoming accustomed to my cousin's car. It's bigger than I'm used to and it has too many electronic gizmos, but it's comfy.

Although that expletive rug is a nuisance I bet it looks amazing.
