So you guys recall how happy I was when Mary started laying again after her big moult and her winter holiday. Anyway the weather went chilly again so she went on second winter holiday for a few weeks. Now today, she's on the nest again!

I know that feeling! I bought one for Yasmin and Charly but they never used it. But Blossom thinks it's awesome! At last it's proving useful, so I'm glad the money wasn't wasted.

Thanks! My chum gave me those branches to use as kindling, but they're so sturdy I thought I'd try them in the coop.

We had an egg catastrophe today.
I've never seen one laid in quite such awful condition before, all flat where it landed & so many cracks!​

It wasn't laid in a nesting box either, but was loose on the floor of the coop. I found Pebbles investigating it & am so pleased I got it before she discovered it was food! Egg eating is a hard habit to break. Not her egg either. I got hers out of a nesting box a bit later on. Not sure who is responsible. It is dotted with tiny calcium deposits.​

I had a broken one a few weeks ago. Pretty sure it was accidentally squashed and not eaten.

I've been getting a few dropped on their noses with a banged in front end but that was something new.

Yeh, it's quite an unusual breakage isn't it. I'm surprised the egg wasn't spilled out.
