I'm glad your colonoscopy went well. Hoping for helpful results!
I have to agree with everyone , that's a brilliant photo. I was struck by how thick and lustrous your hair is.![]()
It was blowing 30~35ks when we headed inter~island today.View attachment 1936860
Absolutely miserable.
Have just forcibly sent the girls to roost because we have a massive storm breaking over our heads.
Oh, Kris! Swap you. Wind here just fills the air with sand, dust & pollen.Stay safe down there! I agree, though I do love how a good windstorm clears the air, that was before I built flying chicken tractors! My chooks hate the wind a rain though and will quickly take shelter in their roosting boxes... then I feel guilty about how small those are for them.
G'day, Bob. Intrigued....Good evening Jeannie... There's a surprise in your near future.![]()
I'm a bit worried. Someone [not Lottie] is laying a soft shelled egg. I've found 2 or three in the same spot under the roosts over the past few weeks so I suspect Patricia [mutant barred rock] as that's where she normally roosts but I have no idea why. Today it was a double yolker! They have grit available so I'm wondering if there is some sort of issue with absorbing her calcium or if she is being kept off the grit. She is a robust hen, otherwise fit & healthy. Actually everyone seems to be in really good shape ~ but I thought that about Pebbles too & she wasn't showing issues like this.
The bulk of their feed is a layer crumble ~ top of the range stuff. Supplements are greens, veggie scraps, mealworms or fish but kept below the 10% & most days they get some time out of the coop area to forage.
Thanks, Kris. I'll see what I can find @ the produce store on Tuesday. They have been getting some scrambled egg because I have a dork who keeps cracking her eggs when she lays them. I put down extra mulch & she scrapes it away till she has bare boards again & I have cracked eggs.Cook them up for her with a crushed up calcium tablet, she will love the egg treat and then you can boost her calcium even more. Maybe she’s just being picky and not eating enough of the layer pellets? Chickens can be weird
