It reminds me of two chicken noises I've heard before.I thought it was going to be peaceful tonight.View attachment 1955047
My 1st 3 had settled peaceably.
Then this.
@1:12 & 2:54 someone makes a sound I've never, ever heard my hens make before.
Just after I finished filming all hell broke loose . Hepzibah got nearly everyone off the top bar ~ except Lottie. For some reason Lottie was accepted but everyone else had to start over. It wasn't pretty.
The first is the noise made by my neighbours hen when she's trying to crow like a rooster, but that involves standing up and, well, trying to crow with lungs full and head back. I can hear her right now, "crowing" up the street.
The second was the squeal made by Sandy when Mary sat on her, grabbed her comb and twisted it. (Thankfully a one-of occurrence as far as I'm aware.) There were little black specks on Sandy's comb afterwards, which I was told were dried blood specks.
Do any of your hens have dark specks on their comb?
But Lavender & Patricia were having @ it so maybe someone got hurt.
Lottie grabbed her corner & was all settled & sleepy before anyone else arrived. That was Soda & Hepzibah who prowled the top roost prepared to ward off all boarders!
Lavender was allowed up. Tuppence was not. Lavender screamed @ everyone ~ it was her the other night. Luna had no trouble & after a bit of fuss Suyin was allowed up. Ha'penny wan't. Patricia definitely wasn't. I actually intervened for Tuppence because She & Lottie & Ha'penny usually squeeze up together. Ha'penny is pretty stubborn & having run the gauntlet of assorted pecks took her opportunity & squeezed in between Soda & Hepzibah. Patricia eventually managed to get up between Luna & Suyin. Lots of pecking & squawking. They were still @ it when I left the coop but no~one was actually getting pushed off. I dunno. They're mad.

we have a few more pictures for you from yesterday
