I don’t have coloured eggs Bob.![]()
Do the blue eggs taste any different?![]()
It took about six weeks to dig the hole, level the grade, concrete the floor and get the walls up and roof on with my house. That was with two local builders and myself working. I did something really stupid and had a heart attack in week six. Doing the rest of the work went a lot more slowly. Roughly, you could build a house like mine in three months very easily.
Good evening folks
Jeannie, I'm so excited for you![]()
Hi Sue. How's it going?Good evening everyone![]()
Thanks, Bob. The man thinks I'm a little demented but he's willing to drive me & pick up chickens. No~one likes me driving on my own as I have absolutely no sense of direction! It's always interesting as we get close to the water. None of the chickens have ever experienced anything like it & you can see their curiosity when that 1st whiff of salt air reaches them.
I can but try. No promises though. Driving with my man is not the relaxed fun filled experience it is with YD.Take some video., please, please, please.

If I had had much in the way of family involvement I would still be living in a tent.I had a 6 month plan for having the house up. Back in 2017. Theoretically the walls should all be up within two weeks. If they get worked on. And to the site in one piece. I wasn’t planning on the buerocratic and family delays. Saving $20k by doing our own foundations seemed like a good idea when FIL said we shouldn’t sub contract that to the local cement guy, except it’s the one part I really don’t understand the codes for. That’s ok though, FIL was a mason and cement finisher... he knows everything...(that eyeroll emoji should look way less cute and more sarcastic) so they are finally done two years later. I can completely see having a heart attack over the building process. I’m honestly surprised we have all made it this far.
I really like your house. It’s efficient, beautiful, and I understand how it went together. Unfortunately it wouldn’t be suitable for our environment, as the only place I could back it up to is the cliff, and we do get a little spalling off it. I’m glad you’re recovered from your heart attack. Scary stuff. I’m sure the relaxing pastoral farm life is helping with that. Or at least the chickens are. Therapy dogs and horses are overrated... chickens and cows are far more helpful IMO
