Ribh's D'Coopage

I am concerned about one of the “old” girls. The barred rock. Her age is unknown, she is described as ancient. She is older than Hoppy and the other older production red gal. She is at least 5-6 years old. She just came through her molt and looks better than she has in years, but she was fake eating and is always the last out in the morning. This time I am blaming age; As the parasites have been dealt with and no clear reproductive issues are present. She seems to be off laying, and has some impressive spurs

Sounds like Patsy. She got spurs when she stopped laying. Age is certainly a possibility.

I just hope she is happy for her final years... the fake eating concerns me, but she hasn’t completely lost body condition. She’s just a gramma chicken I hope
Try to keep a close eye on her eating. I know it's not easy. I like craw check at night to be certain.

I wondered if Chickie was fake-eating the commercial feed. She wasn’t fake-eating her pork and cheese though!
