What I think, Bob, & I really don't know for sure, is shipping practices. Our first hive they used cotton gauze to plug the entrances & the propolis was left intact. It was also a fairly young hive. This time sticky tape was wrapped round the hive & over the entrance. I imagine it was easier to wrap without a whole heap of propolis in the way & the stuff gets harvested & sold on to other beekeepers starting up hives. Thems my thinks anyway.It's too bad they cleaned it up for shipping. I wonder why if they were bee people?
