Fat Bird came in to have a sit in the nest today. I find this a bit concerning if she doesn't lay an egg, which she didn't. I tend to think the worst that she may have reproductive problems.
However, she's done this a number of times now and every time I've checked her over and kept an eye on her for the next few days and she's been fine. Maybe she just likes to sit on some eggs from time to time.

Perhaps it's just a habit left over from her laying days. Like a morning cuppa.

Lilly has been doing this all year. I'm not concerned. She is her feisty self the rest of the day and it's not every day. But every so often she hangs out in a nesting box. I think they spent so much time in them in their egg laying years that maybe they just miss the peace and quiet.

I don’t want Lucy to ever lay again. She has earned her retirement.

I agree. I would be very happy if Lilly never laid again. She's done her part.

I feel the same way about Deana. Especially after those enormous, wrinkly eggs she was laying last time.
