Ribh's D'Coopage

Over Christmas break my 10 year old convinced my 6 year old to read Harry Potter. She got quite a ways before deciding it was too scary! No choice about reading around here. One grandmother was a librarian and the other was a Kindergarten teacher!

I don’t think my son is ready for Harry Potter yet, he self-censors when he thinks things are going to get scary. He also doesn’t like characters getting into trouble; it took a fair bit of convincing to read a Famous Five book when he thought George was going to get into trouble for disobeying her father!

We'd read to the kids every day. I love listening to my husband's rendition of Piglet and Roo when reading Winnie the Pooh. "I can see your house from here Piglet!" :lau

The eldest has been writing her own stories since before she could actually write. She would rope an adult in and dictate stories to them.

She is still writing now and in my (unbiased😉) opinion has a very good story telling voice. I wish I could convince her to publish...

Good evening everyone 😊

Another beautiful sunset!❤

Love your sunset ❤

Reading is something that I have always loved and by reading to the kids it encouraged them to read. I had nights that I would find them reading after bed time😍 I will admit that you can give me a good book instead of being around people any day!

My idea of joy ~ but neither child has been trained to story books. Mum puts them on IT stuff & then tells me they have short attention spans! 🙄 Neither is keen on being read to. :( My 3 year olds could listen to 3 or 4 picture books in a row, or even a Milly~Molly~Mandy story without trouble & I had a bunch of dyslexic ADDs. Even as High schoolers, in a power outage, mine would ask to be read to to pass the evening. I don't get the technology thing ~ except maybe mum thinks it gives her a break.
That is sad. Some of my favorite times were snuggled together reading to the girls. You don't get that if they are on their own playing with a gadget and you are giving up that closeness to a web site or an app.:(

I intend to have the same experience with Eve. I believe that my daughter agrees with me. I hope. :fl
