My demented hens.
If I'm outside they will congregate to wherever I am & chat 19 to the dozen.
If they can't see me they start hopping the fence.
Your days are numbered, girls!
I trimmed all Lavender's butt fluff. She'd made a mess of herself & she is such a big cumbersome girl to handle neither of us were happy.
Patricia doing her rooster stance. She really is an odd, odd hen! No~one else in the flock ever stands so tall & she is definitely the friendliest & easiest to handle of the BRs.

They are so cute...I love having mine follow me around, I'm just glad they can't easily hop the fence! She does stand up tall doesn't she!

She's not the prettiest of hens & she's not a standout personality wise either but I've come to really appreciate her sterling qualities: she's hardy, sweet tempered, handleable, good with all the rest of the flock, a reliable layer, much like Suyin's sister, Luna. They are the backbone of the flock & keep it really stable. I've got a lot of flighty birds & having that calm, stabilising influence makes a huge difference to flock dynamics. Very little ever fazes them.

Suyin on the other hand is temperamental, bad tempered, a disturber of the peace, vicious to the little ones & demanding. While she's been unwellish things have been far more peaceful but the flock is surprisingly tolerant of her foibles.

Such a lovely assortment. Beautiful colors and personalities.

They may be mad but they make for wonderful viewing!

Every flock needs them. Hattie is that in my flock. Lilly probably more so now than before. She let's Sansa be the pecky one with the Littles gone now. She doesn't have to get her feathers dirty.

Hattie is such a rock. Cool calm collected at all times. The nuttiness just seems to occur around her.

We could use some good thoughts and prayers right now. Rich's mom is going to pass away very soon. He's up in the hospital room with her now. My heart is breaking for him, he lost his dad in March and now almost exactly 6 months later he's losing his mom.

Oh I am so, so sorry to hear that CCCL. So very hard at any age.
