Ribh's D'Coopage

I'm with you there Lozzy.

I was in such a bad mood from reading the book I kept wanting to shout "pull your head in!" at the characters and throw the book at the wall.

I've been asked not to read it again...

Funnily enough, I needed a new bedtime book so I’ve pulled it out again! :D I’ll let you know if you should definitely not read it again. ;)

We did "Of Mice and Men" too, along with "1984" , "Animal Farm", "Brave New World" and the inevitable Shakespeare.

Thinking back on it, is it any wonder teenagers are depressed? 🤔

I read all of those except Brave New World, a couple more we read was Bridge to Terabithia and Slaughterhouse 5.

All of the above Plus Catch~22, which I liked but can't remember. We got dragged along to Romeo & Juliet ~ which I have always found exquisitely funny. I'm sure Shakespeare meant it as a comedy! So Here I was rolling in the aisles while everyone else was destroying their boxes of tissues! :idunno
I am quite a Shakespeare fan, but Romeo & Juliet drives me bonkers and I refuse to see it (and certainly won't read it again). Maybe if I approached it as comedy I would find it less infuriating.

As a comedy it's hysterical. All that teenage hysterical, melodramatic angst.

My eyes get very tired very quickly these days. :)
Mine do as well, but I just take a break and do it again 🤷. I will say I need to get new glasses when all my other issues settle down. I have always enjoyed reading. I would read just about anything, now I really don't read as much as I should.

Their work was formative of the magical realism genre (unless I'm recalling things incorrectly again) which might be your cup of tea. The Stories of Eva Luna was how I became interested.
Could I get a further description of what the "magical realism genre" is? I'm having trouble translating that.
