Ribh's D'Coopage

Those look like mite/lice eggs on her feather shafts Ribh and I would get a fecal float done. It's hard to tell from the pictures but those white bits in her poop could be worm segments.
Have a look here.

Thanks, Shad. :hugs I've been treating her & treating her for both so I may ask the vet for their recommendation if what I've been using hasn't worked. I'm not very good @ this stuff & unfortunately my eyesight isn't the best either.

If she has both it go some way to explaining why she isn't doing so well.

I thought we'd got the lice under control as I haven't seen any adult ones for some time & I haven't noticed worms either but honestly, I've never really known exactly what to look for as I'd never seen either IRL. I will dust her again today & add the wormer to her water until I can see what the vet recommends.

I was thinking that too. She'll be relieved if both problems exist and can be removed or reduced.
I feel so bad that even though I have treated her for both I haven't managed to deal with her problem. :( I worm & treat for lice/mites regularly as part of my husbandry. Poor girl!

I don't think whatever you are using is doing the job Ribh. I've tried what the vets/pet shops offer here for mites and lice and they don't work very well.
This stuff works for worms. You may have to import it.

Permethrin is about all that still works for mites and lice.

I have to import both here.

The nites and worms must be resistant to the stuff you're using.

Remember even Shad has major mite problems from gime to time. It's not you. It's probably the season for it.

Ok. I'll see what I can do on Ebay. It is frustrating as it is only the 1 hen out of 14. I will do everyone today. That should be fun. 🙄 And hope our mailing doesn't take forever.
For what it's worth...
Here, if one chicken has mites, or lice, then the others in that tribe have them too. The problem is, on some it's a lot less apparent than it is on others and some seem to be more susceptible to one, or the other, than others. As usual:rolleyes: Tribe 2 has a mite problem. It's very minor because I torch the coop, but on Hinge they are a problem while on Bracket for example they are not. It's the same with scaly leg mite. Mag, Nolia and Lock get them badly; the others have them on and off and seem to be able to deal with them better.
Worms here is different. One chicken can have worms and the others not.
Bear in mind if you have red mite, which are not red at all but pale grey until they feed, you are unlikely to see them on the chicken. They live in the coop and come out at night like all good vampires do.
Mites you can see on the chicken here at least, are likely to be Northern Fowl mite. These are pretty serious and will if left untreated for not that long, make the chicken sick.
With both lice and mites it's not the ones that you can see crawling about that are the major problem, it's the eggs. If you don't deal with the eggs then even after apparently ridding the chicken of the live moving ones the eggs hatch and the cycle goes on.
My eyesight isn't good close up. I run a finger nail down thhe feather shaft to the skin. It should be absolutely smooth. If you can feel bumps a closer inspection is required. I have a quite powerful magnifying glass. I find this helps a lot.
