That's how it was with my Salmon Faverolle...she just sat there with or without eggs!
My broodies have completely lost the plot.
This is what I found this morning.
There are no eggs under either of them!

Those are very pretty!
I need to get a new mattress. I try to replace them every five years. It's been ... interesting. It's always interesting when things go wrong. It takes so much extra time to sort stuff from here but as we have our mainland car back we are off to buy it new tyres & us a new mattress today.
Oh yes. These girls have been doing that but up until this morning they each took their own nesting box. That's how it was with my Salmon Faverolle...she just sat there with or without eggs!
Tap is very much like that. She's under my feet a lot and is happy to sit on the arm of my chair but she really doesn't like me touching anything but her beak. I must confess, I do tease her and grab her tail feathers between two fingers like a pair of scissors.I've been blessed to have a special relationship with several of my hens: Tuppence & Lottie & now Alpia. I have an interesting if unconventional relationship with Ha'penny & Aoife ~ they like to hang close but no touchy~touchy.![]()
That's probably why they are snuggling together, warmth and encouragement...Oh yes. These girls have been doing that but up until this morning they each took their own nesting box.Maybe they are hoping there's strength in numbers???
I haven't moved them yet as it is wet & cold outside & why shouldn't they be warm & cosy together in a nesting box?
They are certainly generating plenty of body heat. I am always amazed @ how warm a broody gets! That's probably why they are snuggling together, warmth and encouragement...![]()
lol I have been known to tease the Campines too.Tap is very much like that. She's under my feet a lot and is happy to sit on the arm of my chair but she really doesn't like me touching anything but her beak. I must confess, I do tease her and grab her tail feathers between tow fingers like a pair of scissors.![]()

When we packed up the kitchen, I packed up the only 2 egg cups I owned. I used to have some lovely ones I picked up in Cornwell but years of children mean they are no more. All that was left was 2 little plastic ones on legs.
So far they have not reappeared.
So I have been looking round for replacements.
Egg cups are really hard to find these days! Do people not eat boiled eggs any more?
Anyway I found these in one of those little gift shops that carry odd things.
I love how bright they are!
And they are sort of chicken...

I used to find our chickens like that when I'd go to check for eggs, they also had more than one box
Those are adorableI don't own any, but I can remember our breakfast in Germany and that is how our eggs were served.
