I don't think to follow rules anymore. I have a nice house with plenty of room. Normally I choose one pet chicken to stay the night inside, but being that I only have five birds left, I am going to make the spare bedroom into a house coop (Then everyone will be happy) House roosters, and hens! AND ME.

People still do that here. They're farm houses so not plush and polished but the chickens are in the same building.

Do you know how much she weighs?

No ~ but it's more than a packet of flour ~ I'd reckon over 4ks. She weighs more than either of my cats.

EDA: I know. I know. You said to get scales but I haven't yet.

Yes I was! We do need the rain, just not the mess!

Oh my. I am now picturing Jaffar as a co-pilot.

There is an old episode of the TV show Coach about a college football coach. He doing a recruiting visit somewhere in one of the old soviet republics for a kicker. They are flying in a rickety old cargo plane with animals and the like. The plane is too heavy to get over a mountain so they start throwing cargo out. They throw out some chickens and coach stops and says "Huh, I didn't think chickens could fly." One of his assistants says "That red one there sure is trying!"

Ahh, poor chickens!

All round for supper again tonight. Hardly saw them during the day, except for Treacle who came to check up on me a couple of times.

Because the hens, except Tap, aren't laying, I think he gets a bit isolated. Dad Cillin, won't let him too near the hens but when they are laying he gets to do most of the escorts. Naturaly, when they come to lay in the house nest box I give the hens a treat if I'm here and they lay an egg. Treacle gets credit for this because if he's here to, I offer it to him to give to the hen.

Same here. I treat the roos, and they tidbit their hens! (It's the way of things)
