She was fine yesterday morning, dead by night.
I have no idea.
I am distraught & ready to give up. She was such a lovely little henny.

Thanks, Shad. I will be ok but for some reason Mhari's death has really affected me badly. I don't know how long she was where I found her, struggling. I'd just got the flock to a really nice place: optimum numbers, everyone getting along well, all healthy & apart from going broody Mhari was one of the easier chickens I have & then this! No warning. No nothing. I had an Australorp bantam go a similar way. I saw her laying in the nesting boxes. Ten minutes later when I went to collect the egg she was dead under the coop. I always wonder what I missed.
