Ribh's D'Coopage

I can't say it's been a real good day.
The Littlies are slowly getting used to things.

The Vorwerks are mad as hatters. One or other of them was standing in the water tray all day. 🙄

The big girls spent the morning screaming. I eventually went into the coop to spend some time & hand out treats & in the process found what Luna was so upset about. There was a very long, very dead rat wedged in an almost inaccessible corner. 🤢 They all knew it was there but luckily no~one had attempted to eat it. I removed it & the flock was immediately calmer. *sigh* I try but I don't always get it first time round. I'm now worried neighbours are poisoning....

Aoife then proceeded to beat up Wrold & force her out of a nesting box so she could use it. Never mind there were 3 empty boxes. 😖All the big girls have been forcing both bantams of the nests so Wrold went downstairs & proceeded to roll Ha'penny's egg out from under the stairs so she could sit on it undisturbed. :barnie

I think the whole lot of them have lost their collective minds!

Yes they have been confined for a few days. I can't do a full on quarantine but I do what I can & it's not so bad. There is dustbathing spots, stumps, roosts & deep leaf litter for foraging; food, water & extra treats but the girls are fed up with bantam broodies bokking away all day!
I can only imagine how stressful, but on the bright side: The Littlies are settling in and seriously could not be more cute if they tried; imagine how bored you would be if they were all sane, it sounds like the Vorwerks will fit right in once they are all integrated they can scream like hell at each other; and they didn't eat the rat and you found it; and Wrold found her own solution to being forced off the nesting box!
All in all I'd say it sounds like an exhausting but successful day.
Nonetheless, feet up and cup of tea is definitely in order.
:hugs

I'm not sure what's going on other than I usually remove broodies & this time I haven't because the Littlies are in the broody jail. I get it's probably driving the non~broodies mad. The nesting boxes are occupied by angry screaming pinecones. Everybody's eggs get stolen. They're more confined than usual & to top it off there's these midget strangers in their home! But, hey, food water & treats are still on offer & it's only for a short time.

The Littlies got put to bed early last night due to the storms coming through. They were not impressed but I wasn't risking the frizzles getting soaked. They were delighted to be let out a little earlier this morning.

Alpia & Wrold were awful & refused to roost until I'd blocked off the nesting boxes. They then decided to go downstairs & forage in the semi dark. I think Wrold was hoping the nesting boxes would be open again when she went back upstairs. Perish the thought. They roosted with loud complainings. I sort of expected to find they'd abandoned the roosts again when I checked before bed as the wind & rain had changed direction & I had to tie down the curtain to stop the wind howling through the coop, but they were both still on their perches. I think Alpia might be over it. She was downstairs with everyone else this morning but Wrold headed straight for a nesting box. 🙄

@Shadrach's post upset me so I cheered myself up with a cute playing animal video.
Sorry people - got muddled between threads - I was upset by @Shadrach's experience posted over on @BY Bob's thread. At least that is where I think it was. I am now so muddled I will just retreat and stay silent.

I think Shad's in the same boat with the carpel. By this time of life it's not just the time, it's the experience & patience acquired but the energy's gone out the window, the eyes are a disaster & my hands will only take so much punishment ~ but, hey; why should my body win? It can jolly well do what I tell it & get over itself! :lau

I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome in my left arm (which is my dominant arm) and I wear a brace to bed every night. It seems to have settled down, although I haven’t played the piano for quite some time.
