Ribh's D'Coopage

Shame about the wet.
Only from a chicken POV. We really need the rain but it means I haven't been outside much. Not even sitting with my big girls just now. We are pretty sodden.

Yesterday I let the girls out for a run then found myself paddling round in the downpour because the fence hoppers were milling not able to get back in to shelter, Patricia was hiding under the verandah & I had a number of girls missing looking for somewhere sheltered. I was less than happy.

I don't seem able to catch a break @ present. Partly I know its because I run a slightly larger flock than most so the chances of things going wrong are a little higher but this is getting ridiculous!

I've never seen anything like this before.
There was a broken thin shelled egg with it so I'm guessing the brownish stuff was discoloured yolk. It had that sort of consistency. I also suspect it is Patricia. It was under where she roosts & the hens on either side of her last night I know are laying & pooping normally. I'm really hoping this isn't another flock drama.

I have started the worming treatment. I managed Soda & Patricia before the rain moved in again so this may take a few days to complete.

What do you all think?

I buy pullets @ point of lay. My 1st integration was 6 new hens to 4 old ones. I had some Australorps as well as the BRs still & they did not take kindly to the interlopers but a couple of weeks & we had the new pecking order well established. I can separate the run & the coop run so the old girls were let loose for part of the day while the newbies got some peace & space from the harassment. The next time it was 5 into 7. I'd lost the Australorps so had a more mellow flock & fewer integration issues. Last time it was 5 into 10. All the new girls were fairly docile breeds & I had no integration issues.

I wonder if that’s an Australorp thing? Charlie is such a bully, I think my Faverolle girls are relieved when she’s broody!

I have no idea, sorry. It looks like poop to me.
