Gloriana ~ inside again. 🙄
I brought her in on Friday when I noticed she wasn't keeping up with her tribe. She has the most disgusting diahorrea. I have been feeding her scrambled egg mixed with probiotic yoghurt plus electrolytes. She's been off balance & is really underweight so we rushed our mainland stuff today so I could be home in time to lug her to the vet.

She only weighs 750gs. For an 8 month duel purpose bird that is frightening! So I went over the whole *we had a snake * thing because all my issues with Gloriana have stemmed from that point ~ & low & behold the vet agreed. It could be PTS ~ the best outcome. It could be internal damage cause by the snake constriction. It could be neurological damage caused by being passed out for so long. There's no way of really knowing. The long term prognosis is not good.

In the short term I quoted @Shadrach : if they don't eat or drink for 3 days it's time to cull; we're not @ that point yet. So I have anti~inflamatories for her & an antibiotic & we will see how we go. She is dozing a lot; hardly surprising as she's obviously very weak but she is eating & drinking, better some times than others. I have had to trim her bum feathers & she's still a mess down there plus I am having to change her bedding every single time she poops. I'm hoping she pulls through. To have come so far after an attack like that she really deserves the best life possible.

I haven't read ahead yet so I don't know how Gloriana is doing. I hope I read some good news further on.:hugs

Koffee Klatch Wednesday Wherever.
Coffee with Gloriana this morning. She was peeved with me. Her breakfast was late! 😁 She was honking for me before I got downstairs.

I got her to the vet @ the 1st possible opportunity, which was yesterday so probably a bit soon to tell how she is doing. Her overnight poop has more solid matter than it has done & she was awake & up & looking for me this morning ~ all positives. She's eaten & drunk, also good.

The bad news...I have been looking @ pictures of chicken poop for days trying to work out what is going on with her. My best guess was kidneys. Unfortunately that was also the vet's diagnosis. All I can do is try.

You are so sweet to worry about me. We will get through this. The ironic thing is that the vet trip only seems to have made her love me more. She would not let me sleep last night as she kept laying next to head purring and poking at my face. Now that I think about it, maybe she kept up all night to get even.
I have 2 cats prone to doing that all night long. I think they get lonely, arrive for a scratch & a cuddle, purr up a storm until they overheat, then wander off again. 🤣

😴 Good Evening everyone

Bob I hope she feels better soon :hugs:hugs

Jeannie, the same for you and Gloriana :hugs:hugsshe has been through so much lately

This is just beautiful ❤️
Thanks, Sue. At least the vet is reassuring in the sense I have been doing everything right to treat her so far. What is actually scary is how impressed the vet was with how I had been treating her. She must see a lot of totally clueless people.

I hope she gets through this and comes out the other side better than ever. ❤️
Hugs to you both. :hugs
Thanks, ACM. I can only try. It's reassuring to know I was doing everything right to the point I could get her to the vet.

Fingers crossed for her.

Damn that snake.
