I hope he is feeling better soon.Well, whatever you do folks, don't have a hospital emergency during Covid. The man took a tumble in the wet yesterday & opened up old spinal fractures & the ambos took him off the island about lunch time. About 4pm I tried ringing the hospital. No record of him so I tried the 2 big city ones. Nope. About 7pm he was admitted into emergency but it was another several hours before he's been scanned, exrayed, medicated & put into a short stay bed. He said the ambos were waiting 12 deep because covid restrictions meant they had to wait till someone left before anyone else could be admitted ~ roughly 1 every hour or so. Insanity. One of my lads picked him up this morning & put him on a boat home, tired & sore but relatively unscathed.
I found this story particularly astoundingThere are so many parts of that which are unacceptable. No one should "disappear" when taken by ambulance. Imagine if it was a life threatening heart attack and you could not find out if he was alive or dead.
I'm afraid that in all our response to COVID the healthcare system has forgotten the humanity involved.
Just ask yourself how many people lost their will to live in an ICU on a ventilator for weeks not ever seeing any loved ones, only exhausted healthcare workers who have no time.
Someone once asked me if I would rather die being eaten by an alligator or in an ICU bed with COVID. I choose the gator. The thought of slowly dying not being able to breathe without any loved ones nearby is too terrible for me to imagine. Hour after hour alone.
I'm sorry for my soap box.

She's lovely in her own way though. Cinnamon coloured feathers are gorgeous.Luna is effectively a barnyard mix but she was sold as a Favorelle X, along with her sister Suyin. I always start out with pairs whatever happens afterwards. She certainly got the sweet Favorelle temperament. Her sister did not & was something of a bully.
Luna is one of those hens every flocky needs: calm, sensible, a good layer, friendly but not needy & gets along with everyone else in all tribes.
Luna is the hen I look to to gauge the tribes as a whole. If she's upset something is going on. If someone is being a pain, Luna is the hen that will sort them. If someone needs a friend, Luna is that friend. She's quite sensitive so is the hen most upset by deaths in the tribes & can be quite agitated for days afterwards.
She's not my lead hen, or even number 2 but these days is sitting comfortably @ number 3 or 4 & is one of my loudest & most vocal hens. She's always got something to say. Unfortunately she sounds like she's complaining long & loud!
Favorelles come from a small village in France called, yep, Favorelle. They were bred from a weird mix, many breeds I've never seen like the French Rennes & Maline amongst many others & were developed when the French moved to cages because the popular Houdans did not like being caged & rather misbehaved.
Not the prettiest of my hens, or one with the most character but absolutely indispensable & a real favourite with everyone.
I’m actually not sure. Judging by the redness of their combs I would say point of lay if not laying.Beautiful birds. How old are they? I was expecting chicks!![]()
Yes, indeed. Polly in particular keeps going up the tree to get away from the other hens who peck her.So fliers then!
Why thank you. I think I will keep him but if he fights the other rooster then he’s out.Handsome fellow he is!
That it does. That it does.Chicken math gets us all!![]()
thank you. I actually don’t know what breed Harry is, I bought him because he was small and cute lol
