Thank you everyone. I expected my 1st job this morning would be to bury my girl but she is still in there fighting, Now I just have to persuade her to take some fluids with antibiotics.

I've, lost her MJ. Not surprised but it was really fast. When I was reading up I read that egg peritonitis often happens when hens come back on the lay after their moult. Morrigu was the last hen I would have expected to have trouble & I'm not sure if that's true but so not the sort of stuff I'm really cluey about.

Morrigu had a great life with you until very recently when sickness got her.

Is it worth taking her to the vet for a postmortem? I'm thinking it might pay off to learn precisely what was wrong with her. If they confirm EYP then you'll recognise the symptoms if it happens again and then rapidly give antibiotics. It's a lot of expense for a lost bird though, so might not be worth it

Morrigu had a great life with you until very recently when sickness got her.

Is it worth taking her to the vet for a postmortem? I'm thinking it might pay off to learn precisely what was wrong with her. If they confirm EYP then you'll recognise the symptoms if it happens again and then rapidly give antibiotics. It's a lot of expense for a lost bird though, so might not be worth it

She's already buried. The vet won't be here until tomorrow & I really couldn't just stick her in the fridge. I think that's how I lost Lottie. There's a particular smell ~ though by the time it's noticeable it's probably too late. The milky poos are the giveaway, but I got them the minute they started & brought her inside. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a parasitic overload as I worm regularly & no~one else is displaying those symptoms, but she was joining Ha'penny & Aoefa in the prelaying screaming sessions & I was expecting an egg from her shortly. While I am not 100% certain I'm pretty sure that's what happened & it's such a shame as she was a hardy little soul.

You did the best you could for her. Your thought on her illness sounds quite likely.

Oh dear how very sad.
In a way it is a blessing it was fast so she didn't feel poorly for too long.

I am so sorry my friend. It is so hard when we lose one of friends like this. Rest assured she had a wonderful life with you and was truly blessed to be a member of your tribe.
