Good evening folks


Can't wait to see it progress My last kitchen took 3 years and started with a pile of rough sawn oak and Maple.

Oak and maple sound wonderful but how on earth did you manage without a kitchen for 3 years?

Our new Kitchen

The electrician and plumber came today to disconnect the kitchen and rip it out.

A guided tour follows.

Our old kitchen was original to the house. We estimate it was built in the early 1980s.
We have lived here 30 years and the kitchen was overflowing.

I have been slowly emptying cupboards and getting rid of stuff over the last few weeks. This weekend the whole family made a concerted effort and we finished emptying the kitchen!

The doors were made of covered particle board which did not stand up to water very well after 40 years of use.View attachment 2782677

We had a slow leak under the sink and didn't realize it until the shelf started to sag.

Notice that the water pipes run along outside the gyprock.

Kitchen removed and water pipes relocated to within the wall.View attachment 2782681

After clean up. It echoes so much now!

Hubby and I will be putting in new gyprock tomorrow. The install starts on Wednesday!

It was interesting, but with just the two of us doing it, it took time. We pretty much did the whole house before we sold.

That is stunning - really gorgeous!
And I am in awe of you guys doing that yourselves. I seriously need to re-examine my skill set.
Hmmm. I can dig trenches for drainage pipe (quite good at that!).
I can lie on the ground and patch mouse holes with welded wire and rodent excluder wire wool. Hmmm.
Not feeling good about my skill set; I guess the Tradies don't need to worry as there will continue to be plenty to do at my place!

That is really beautiful and so spacious. Please tell me you got to enjoy all your hard work for a few years before you sold the house?

Are those narrow, pull-out drawers on either side of the dishwasher? What is that in the kick board at the end of the kitchen? ( bottom of the bench that has the pastry circles and the cook book holder) A vent? Or something more interesting?
