I’ve got pictures of our cats on leads. I’ll see if I can find them.

I found one, along with some other kitty pictures I haven't seen for ages!

I don't know whether to laugh or be distressed or just go blinking hysterical. I went to let the girls into their run this morning so happened to be round when this latest piece of lunacy took place. At present I have both Wrold & Ceres sitting. They have taken the middle 2 nesting boxes in the big coop. Luna is one of the few hens laying in the big coop & naturally she usually lays in one of the 2 middle boxes. She came out with everyone else, had a look @ the small coop then took herself back to the big coop & upstairs to lay. Naturally the boxes she wanted were occupied. She tried the end one but there is obviously something wrong with it. She had a look @ Wrold's box but even when she's not broody Wrold is not a hen to mess with. Luna moved on. Ceres is feisty but she is young & way down the pecking order. Luna moved in on her. Ceres wasn't budging. She hunkered down but Luna is a big hen & her wrigging & jiggling pushed Ceres farther into the corner, exposing 2 eggs. Luna was on them like a shot, tucking them neatly under herself while poor Ceres watched. I now have Luna tucked in on top of Ceres, Luna has both fake eggs, Ceres has @ least 2 real ones. I wouldn't mind Luna brooding but I don't want her trying to share with Ceres. It's so unequal! What is wrong with these hens. In all her born days Luna has never once shown any interest in going broody but suddenly she is stealing a broodie's eggs!
I go for the real ones on Wednesday so I hope the girls have sorted themselves out before then.

Madness. Just madness.

I really don't know either but Shad said not to let them [& I figure he would know] but egg breakage seems the mostly likely reason. If you'd seen what I saw this morning...

The other would likely be proper rotation of the eggs. Momma hen will rotate and adjust the eggs about every 15 minutes. There is a pattern to what they do. If you disturb them then the eggs wind up out of pattern. For sure once they have the eggs that to want them to hatch you should consider walling them off from the others somehow. At least poor Ceres.

I have not been in the backyard with my chooks since Monday morning and I am missing them.

My left knee “blew up” on Monday afternoon and I have spent the time resting it and going to various medical appointments.

Luckily my family has taken up some of the slack but it is not the same.

I’m going to try and hobble out there this afternoon. Hubby has put my stool on wheels out there.

I am so sorry to hear that ACM.

Mrs BY Bob loved chicken time after her knee replacements. I had to take her out so she could spend time with them.

Here she is heading back.
She has 5 eggs under her so I figure she'll manage the 1/2 dozen I'll put there. They'll be smaller than the fake eggs too.

A bit of both actually. It’s my “bad” knee but it has never swelled up like this without being dislocated first.
I’m waiting on the MRI results but the orthopaedic surgeon thinks I probably won’t be able to walk on it for about a month.

Oh. That's rough!

For those who need to find fault with Éowyn, she has started recently to take her enormous tongue and groom me. It is very sweet except when she dies it too long. She gave me brush burns on my arm the other day!
