Good evening folks


I've only tried it once and the results were disastrous. I had two determined hens in one box. So I gave them each six eggs. All but four were broken and the four hatched. One of the two hens threw in the towel and rejoined the other girls. When mama decided it was time to take the chicks and introduce them to the flock, the failed hen killed the babies.

Bob, were those the only chicks that hen killed? I'm mindful of Shad's hen who killed her own chicks.

I know. For all they're always described as flighty & difficult to manage they can be tamed. Both my girls are squatting for me just now & enjoying a back scratch.

They are a really different shape to birds like BRs or Orps or Australorps.
