Yes, I would think it got caught on something. I assume that there was no fight or we would have heard of that. Perhaps on one of the crab pots? I can't be certain on what. How does something like that happen? I mean tearing off a spur? Would it have got caught in something?
What a good girl.Nope. No help. Aoife was incredible! I did wrap her in a towel but she barely struggled @ all. The cleaning was hardest. I expect it hurt.
No band aid Ribh. The pine tar should keep it clean while it scabs over. The bandaid will just keep the wound damp and that encourages infection.Aoife's spur was hanging by a mere thread & came off quickly & easily. There seemed to be a lot of dried blood so not much bleeding & I swabbed it until the cloth was coming away clean . I could only get a pine Tar gel but applied lots before putting a Bandaid on. The wound looked fairly jagged rather than a clean tear so I hope I've done everything right.View attachment 2832715

Awww I love it when kids take an interest in chooksYesterday I found one of the neighbours kids trying to make friends with Portia through the fence. She couldn't have chosen a more difficult hen to befriend if she tried but Portia is gorgeous & the kid was besotted. She has 2 little white bantams, a Langshan & a Pekin, but had never seen a frizzled before.

I rounded up Olivia for her instead. Olivia is docile & friendly & doesn't mind being handled. She couldn't believe how soft the feathering is! She asked about all the different breeds because she thinks my tribe is incredibly pretty. So do I!I gave her an Aracauna egg because blue eggs are always a novelty & a great talking point.
Scabbing over nicely, no redness or swelling. Looking good. How's her leg today?
