I had most of my senior hens laying outside because I had so many broody bantams.

Having no roosters by broody girls end up in the buster box ASAP. No hogging nest boxes!

She does. Can't believe the vet's one recommendation was euthanasia.

Probably has a lot of experience with people who wouldn't put out the effort for "just a chicken". She sure didn't show much promise when the vet saw her.

Still more than a little wobbly but her behaviour is so sweet. I was sitting outside for a while watching the girls sort out their morning. Sif slowly made her way to the patio, came over to me & lent against my leg before settling beside me, just touching. Her trust now is amazing as the Vorwerks have tended to be incredibly skittish still. Happy to see all her toes are spread out [not curled] & her feet are down flat.​

Such a wonderful story. I'm so glad the two of you have bonded. At least one of the Vorwerks is not all bad.

A lot of people view chickens as disposable. Too much work to save, it's just a chicken.

That is a fantastic mug!!!! You didn't have to wait you know. MJ & ACM drink tea & not all of us have the same mugs. That was just a conceit we conceived because we're a little strange that way.

I no longer drink Koffee since i had the flu. The smell of it makes me queasy. My pictures are always with tea in the cup these days.

Oh I know.
Initially I waited because of superstition and then later because it was all so upsetting. The mug was a gift from Bob to thank me for finding and bringing Legertha and Sylvie.
So now I use it as a tribute to them.

I expect you're right. Honestly I was so ignorant when I began I just chose chooks by their looks & expected that they would get along. That they do is more good luck than good management. I was lucky in that my first frizzle was so large no~one was game to pick on her & so all subsequent frizzles have been accepted without question. I've been tempted a couple of times to try a Polish but am reluctant to tempt fate too far.

Get a polish that looks like this!

It will fit right in. Betty does with mine. Your tribe would be a piece of cake.

I'm a bit late with my evening drink tonight, I got carried away with the kids, sorting through their old drawing so I've just put my PJs on. I decided to put a couple of chunks of mint chocolate in it, my daughter had a bar earlier so I fancied it, it's really nice.

Unfortunately not really viable. At one stage I had 2 Japs & Olivia sharing, both Wyandotte bantams & Shuri [my golden Wyandotte frizzle] sitting in the shed & Portia, My silver Wyandotte frizzle, trying to sit on the favourite outside nest. Olivia kicked Shuri out, Titania replaced Alpia [ so a frizzle for a Wyandotte ] & I wouldn't leave Portia on her own @ night so she broke relatively quickly. Ha'penny is the only one I really have issues with. That hen is a demon for hidden nests! @ least with all the palm fronds removed she can no longer burrow ~ or can she?
