Yes, I'm waiting on him. It was the outside wing Desi dropped & dropped it so it was scraping the dirt. It looked aggressive to me but I could be interpreting wrong. And it wasn't subtle. It was so unmistakable & went for nearly a minute. There's an American lady who goes by featherbrain who lists 7 reasons a rooster will dance but I couldn't find any reference to hens doing it.Yes. A rooster dance IS herding, I believe. Both Bridge and Lucky do this in my flock, but itās very, very subtle. And itās ME they want to herd, even though Iām the ārooster.ā I suspect things get discombobulated when there is no real rooster.
Anyway, both Bridge and Lucky will ādrop a wingā to me. It looks more like a shoulder drop, and itās the wing/shoulder on my side of their body.
Honestly, I think @Shadrach is going to be the best one to weigh in on this one. Iām almost certain one of his articles addresses this very behavior, except in roosters, if I remember correctly.
O wow! They are stunning. Is that a Vorwerk? How do you find them? You will need to tell me what breeds. The B&W girl looks like she might have some Wyandotte & one girl looks like @BY Bob's Hattie [who is an Orp] & I would bet on a Cochin? Straight comb? They are really lovely.View attachment 3022134View attachment 3022135
And these are my girls. Sorry, it's taken a while to post, I have so many pics to go through (I take so many of kids, pets, ransom stuff....). I did do I flock intro post but I don't think a lot of people saw it. View attachment 3022136

Pekins we have out here. I nearly bought some a couple of years back along with a Sussex but my breeder had Campines. I love those loony birds!4 of them are Cochin bantams and one is a Sussex bantam. I'm in the UK, I think these are both fairly common here (we call the Cochin bantams, Pekin bantams though). The Sussex is definitely popular here but I don't think the bantam version is quite so common.
She threw a few pecks at Lottie, ate some bugs, wiped her beak on the ground, but I havenāt seen her scratch at the ground like they normally do, plus she walks fairly sedately. I checked her feet last night; I couldnāt see anything that resembled bumble foot, but sheās not limping either. I havenāt seen her take a dirt bath for a while either.I was too slow posting I see.
