Ribh's D'Coopage

I apologise for the dearth of chicken pics but all my girls are moulting, so not in the best shape. I have been walking Kirby in a harness because despite good fences that cat is a houdini. If he can't go under he goes over or through or flicks his tail & disappears. He is far too untrustworthy to be left to his own devices. He hates the harness ~ more especially as Marlow is allowed out unsupervised but Marlow will not go anywhere. He's a Mama's boy. So I wander the perimiter with Kirby letting him scent everything & spay over the scents he dislikes [probably the big black tom who wanders the yard @ night], & the girls trot along behind us chatting away ~ as they do.

Molting or not, that is definitely worth a picture!

I need a doppleganger for that. ;) But it's pretty funny. They don't mind if I don't have treats. They just enjoy giving me an earful & Kirby a hard time. He doesn't like chickens in his space. 🤣

RE AUSSIE-CHOOKMUM:
I managed to get in contact. All is well but she is felting up a storm for the Windsor show. She sends her love & hopes to be back on~line in a couple of weeks.
I should double check things before I post. She's doing the Hawkesbury show, not Windsor, for any Sydneyites who might be considering going...

The morning exodus.
I do find personalities really come through @ certain moments.
Olivia is invariably one of the 1st out & trots confidently across the lawn. Shuri bolts like lightening right to the side fence in the hope of being 1st to any treats. My tiny Japs tend to run in the wake of a larger hen, hoping that any resident hawk will aim for the larger target I guess. Ha'penny & Luna, as befits the matrons of the tribe, are usually last out & plod in stately fashion from shrubbery to shubbery. Ha'penny never moves into the open without 1st checking the skies & the terrain. Aoife comes out screaming. Portia spends her first 1/2 hour honking madly & VERY loudly. Sif is always last & very cautious about venturing into the open. She scuttles into the shrubs @ the side of the shed & prefers to cross any open ground in my company. While she can run now & get up a certain amount of speed I can see she still lacks confidence & prefers caution.

Wonderful insight into their personalities. ❤️

Thank you Bob and Bob (Bob squared?) :D The fecal float came back as positive for coccidia and the vet has recommended a treatment with an active ingredient called toltrazuril. I’ve asked the nurse to check if that is different to amprolium and she will call me tomorrow.
This sounds like a positive update that they might be switching meds?
