I agree. It's a scent thing. Both mine will roll all over footwear rubbing themselves against it.I think they like the smell. I’ve got a video of Mishka rubbing herself all over DH’s armpit after he’d played a game of hockey.
I was once told to put used socks into cat boxes when they need to travel anywhere.
I usually put in an old T~shirt. I left one with Kirby while he was @ the vets so he had a familiar scent around him.

Oh, I almost forgot. I found some milk thistle.I went up the road to get some milk thistles to find the whole paddock has been razed to the ground prior to building.There goes my lovely big supply of milk thistle! I got most of a bag full by scouring the verges & spread it out for the girls so everyone has a chance @ getting some. They've had 2 breakfasts so far. I put down feed for them & my neighbour threw over pumkin scrapes so they can't possibly be hungry. Didn't stop anyone from pigging on such a nice treat!

What a good idea! Except Jasper the Burmese would probably chew them.
We had an old family tabby called Tigger. My sister has a dog who would pee herself slightly when she got excited, we called it ‘happy wees’. Well, Aiofe did her happy wees outside my parents’ back door once and Tigger was incensed! Even after it had dried she could smell it, so she rubbed her cheeks all over the spot, then curled up on it!
